I had the pleasure of once again visiting a favorite city of mine, Seattle, WA. Seattle is not only an amazing walking city, but a must for coffee lovers and foodies alike.
Walking through Pikes Place Market and the adjoining streets and alleyways, you will find wonderful bakeries, wine merchants, fine food shops, chocolate shops as well as an amazing array of fresh west coast seafood. Looking for great cookware, bakeware and accessories for the gourmet inside you…..a stop at Sur la Table is a definite must!!!
Seattle truly embodies for me what a true coffee house is – a place where neighbours, friends and even strangers meet to share stories over an amazing cup of joe. Locals here truly support independent coffee houses and as such there are many to discover. The thing I liked most about the independents is how passionate and truly knowledgeable the owners and baristas are about their favorite beverage.
On this trip I discovered a true gem of a place – The Volunteer Park Café in Capital Hill. A lovely little neighbourhood place with some of the most delicious muffins, sandwiches and pastries I have ever tried. If you have the chance to visit, don’t leave without trying their maple scone and their pear/cardomon muffin. Their morning glory muffin is also a winner!!
